1. Films

How it went
All the speakers were very good.
Made some good contacts, such as Purbeck Films who showed the films for us at half price and have said they are willing to help us in the future. Since Purbeck Films didn’t have to sort out licences, they may have been why they were able to do it cheaply for us.
Probably not a good idea to use the Studland Study Centre again, since it belongs to National Trust and there was a lot of paperwork and regulations. Perhaps if we had paid for the venue it would have been more straight forward.

Follow up
Thank you letters/ emails have been sent to the venues, speakers and Purbeck Films. Collette has also written an article for the Gazette to thank them.
Katie has emailed all those people who left contact details (around 25 people)
We should get figures for AOS for te 4 days to see if our discount deal made any difference.

Costs and money raised
Beryl is underwriting costs of movies until we have raised the funds.
We raised £68.24 from wine and cake donations, less costs (wine, speaker’s petrol, wine glasses) this left £33.24.
NB for next time, Paul has about 30 wine glasses we can use.

Ideas for future
Most people came to the Rex (51 people came) so perhaps we should concentrate on this venue? We could also use the Mowlem in Swanage, but they charge £180 to hire the main room or £15 for the community room (40/50 people)
Jon is talking to Wareham library about getting more environmental movies and books in to create a ‘green hub’. These could be shared with Swanage library.
Some concern that only people who are already interested in the issues came. We should make a plan to show movies at PDC and to other groups. Purbeck Films can help us do this. Perhaps Peak Oil Imposed by Nature (45 mins) would be a good one? Also, Crude Awakening and Power of Community.
We should also look out for upcoming films, such as End of the Line and Food Inc. Katie is trying to get Farm for the Future, could we get farmers along to that?

2. Constitution

Katie, Beryl, Sophie P, Diane and Brett will look at constitution and bring to next meeting. Beryl to email it to this group, who can then get together to discuss.
Katie will fill out the form to make us an official Transition Initiative rather than just ‘mulling it over’.

3. Core group

As agreed at last meeting, we will now form a core group. This will change as time goes on. Initially this will consist of:-
Beryl, Katie, Paul, Janine, Collette, Louise, Sophie and Ian.
Others who were not present at the meeting who want to be part of the core group please email the above people.

4. Green Drinks

Agreed we would alternate Green Drinks each month between Black Swan, Swanage and Duke of Wellington, Wareham.
Core group will look at meeting venues. There won’t be any large group meetings anymore, just core group meetings and working group meetings. Green Drinks will be for socialising and catching up with eachother.

5. Next steps

Let’s get some projects going!
Plastic bags?
Paul met with 6 people in Swanage about environmental issues/ transition etc. Recommends we have sub-groups for each area.
Can we have Freecycle boards around Purbeck, ie where people post up info on things they want to give away?
Memories of schools sessions – remembering and reviving old skills

6. Wind farm

Will Bond joined us to take questions about the wind farm proposed at East Stoke.
Some concern that as this is nota local energy project as such, it is not really a Transition project, however, vital that we get behind it since there is some public opposition (although there were only 120 letters against vs 450 in favour last year). We also need to be clear that the solution is not just renewable energy but also reducing consumption.

All agreed that we would write a statement to show support of the wind farm. We will also have a wind farm working group consisting initially of; Beryl, Andrew, Paul, Janine, Collette, Louise, Katie, James & Sophie.

If people want more info on this session or want to join the wind farm group, contact one of the group above.

7. AOB
