Our first big outreach event was PEAT on the Street, in September 2008. Blue skies and sunshine provided the perfect setting for a fun environmental awareness day in Wareham. On closed roads (coinciding with European Mobility Week to promote sustainable transport) there was street art, sumo wrestling, belly dancing, the Magic Drum Orchestra and Tip of the Tops solar-powered wheelbarrow disco, amongst other things, plus stalls from RSPB, Cranborne Ancient Technology Centre, Dorset Wildlife Trust, Greenpeace, National Trust and Butterfly Conservation and many others.
We followed up PEAT on the Street with PEAT on the Screen – during Purbeck Aware 2009 we screened a number of environmental movies across Purbeck, see our movies pages for more info.
Since then we’ve also screened other films such as the Transition movie and End of the Line and are always looking out for new films to show around Purbeck. If you have any recommendations we’d love to hear from you.
We take part in local events where we can and are keen to give talks to councils, schools and clubs in the area – if you’re interested please let us know!
